MRI allows the acquisition of high resolution three-dimensional images of water distribution in vivo. These images are reinforced by the use of contrast agents that decrease catalytic relaxation time of water protons coordinated to a paramagnetic metal center. Di-s (III), with 7 unpaired electrons and an electronic relaxation time, is ideal for these agents. However, the current Di-s (III) of traders have relied on the capacities of poor contrast enhancement due to their low relaxivity. The agents are limited to target the sites where you can expect to accumulate in high concentrations, as in the flow of blood and kidneys.
